We are dedicated to stopping pet overpopulation, neglect
and abuse in Douglas County. To work toward that goal, Douglas County
must have a puality no-kill shelter. Plans are in the works, with
our architect, Rex Price. |
| |
|
| |
We are planning many things for this shelter. Of course
there will always be the homeless pets for adoption. Cats will be
in large open rooms, not caged. Dogs will be in indoor kennels, warm
and toasty. There will be "pocket pet" sections for rabbits
and other small animals. And there will be private adoption rooms
for people who are considering a particular animal. |
| |
|
| |
We will continue with our policy of all pets being spayed
and neutered before being placed for adoption. This is the only way
to assure that altering is done as the voucher system, many times,
does not get followed through on. |
| |
|
| |
We will also have a large education center where the
area schools can have free field trips. The best place to start teaching
quality pet care and compassion towards all living creatures is with
the children. |

Please keep checking back with this page. We will let
you know as our plans progress and will post some pictures of the
new shelter as its planning and construction continues. |
